SUMMARY:Mini Club Champs Race: Mad Jacks 5
DESCRIPTION:http://www.shrewsburyac.org.uk/our-races/mad-jacks-5/ \nThis race is a joint venture between Shrewsbury AC and the National Trust. Now in its thirteenth year this race is set in the extensive grounds of the National Trust’s Attingham Park The multi-terrain course is approximately 5 miles. \nThe majority of the course is off road and includes a mixture of pasture land where cattle\, sheep and deer can be seen. The course also passes through wooded areas with obstacles such as fallen trees. Also included are several wet / marsh areas (dependent upon weather conditions leading up to the race and on the day). \nMad Jack’s pond Just before the finish the course takes in the “pond” where competitors  run or wade through still water that is approximately 0.5 metres deep. This can be very muddy and obviously cold\, be prepared for this popular feature at the end of the race.

Please follow direction signs and marshals.  Do not try to enter the event via RAF Main gate. \nMax entries:  500 \nPrizes: Trophies for M/F 1/2/3. \nMedals: Finisher medals will be given out at the end of the race. \nRace souvenir: Goodie bags with water bottle\, running vest and additional event souvenirs. \nCourse: This unique event is raced around the RAF Shawbury airfield.  The course is excellent for attempting a PB. \nEvent Village: Various local food and drinks vendors will be in attendance\, offering goods such as: race specific brownies and cakes\, crepes\, hot food and of course\, coffee and tea. \nCharity: This event is organised annually by RAF Shawbury to raise money for the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund (RAFBF).  RAFBF are an independent charity who receive no government funding and provide assistance to the whole of the RAF family\, when they are in need.  This includes members of the Air Cadet Organisation. They also maintain the RAF Memorial and Bomber Command Memorial in London.

DESCRIPTION:http://rhayaderac.org.uk/roundthelakes/ \nRhayader Round The Lakes 30km and a new 10km race is based in Rhayader\, Powys\, Mid Wales.\nRhayader lies in the very heart of Wales and is the first town on the River Wye.\nThe first Round The Lakes Race\, then 20 Miles was in 1984\, the race has grown in popularity since. A 5 mile race was introduced shortly afterwards.\nThe 5 mile race will be replaced by a 10km in 2021.\nThe 30km Race starts from Bryntirion Lane a short distance from the Leisure Centre in Rhayader. The route take runners out of town and around the beautiful Elan Valley Dams.\nThe dams\, reservoirs and 73 mile aqueduct of the Elan Valley were built over a hundred years ago to supply desperately needed clean water to Birmingham. It was an epic feat of civil engineering set within an area of outstanding scenic beauty.\nThe 10km race starts at 11.30am from the rear entrance of Smithfield Car Park. \n

DESCRIPTION:Our annual Chocoholics 5k will be going ahead this year as a virtual race. You can enter for free on the Run Britain website here. \nGeneral Rules: \n\nDistances must be run and submitted between 00:01 on Good Friday 2nd April 2021 and 23:59 on Easter Monday 5th April 2021.\nOnly one submission per runner will be accepted.\nEmail your submissions (preferably a screen shot from Strava or similar of your time) to Dave Peters by 5pm on Tuesday 6th April 2021\nAthletes must avoid popular running/walking routes at busy times.\nBe considerate to others by keeping a minimum of 2m distance at all times when passing in public.\nAll runs must start and finish at around the same point (200m leeway for GPS errors) – either lapped or out and back.\nAny athlete who does not have a GPS device may run one of the following – Chocoholics 5k route (2017 version i.e. not starting on the track)\, BBQ route or Newtown parkrun route (route which is on paths and not Dolerw Park). SUMMARY:Shobdon Wood Race
DESCRIPTION:An approximately 5.3 mile off-road race through delightful scenery\, with some hills\, held in what we hope will be bluebell-filled woods (between Leominster/Ludlow and Presteigne). There is ample parking on site\, free refreshments afterwards (water\, tea/coffee and doughnuts)\, team prizes and category prizes in 5 year intervals\, as well as mementoes for all. Entry is via EntryCentral\, at £13 for affiliated runners\, plus £2 on the day. \nNot in the Maldwyn Harriers Club Championship\, but an enjoyable local race organised by Croft Ambrey Running Club.

DESCRIPTION:The British Master Cross Country Championships are being held at the Rhug Estate in Corwen on 14th March . Entry and information can be found on the British Masters Athletic Federation website. \nClosing date for entries is 1st March. \nThis event is for athletes over 35 but you must be a member of the Welsh Masters Association as well as your Welsh Athletics membership. You can do this via the Welsh Masters Athletics website.
